COVID-19 & Brexit update: a letter to VDS members

Dear Member,

I am writing to inform you that, as we move into a period of further social restrictions, the core support services we offer our members (including our Advice line, Claims, Membership Support and VDS Training) are still all available as usual. Please be patient with us if you experience some slight delays at this time as our working routine is being continually reviewed in order to keep our team safe.

Whilst we are fortunate that much of our work can be carried out remotely, we are very conscious that this is not the case for most of our members. We fully understand that members are currently facing many significant challenges in their day-to-day work, juggling family commitments whilst also balancing patient care with safeguarding the health and well-being of their own teams, animal owners and the wider communities they serve.

Added to the difficulties caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, Brexit has also brought its challenges for our members, with questions about cover required for exports and queries about Animal Health Certificates being regular themes. For help on these and other matters, please go to the Resources and News sections of our website:

We also recognise that some practices and individuals are suffering financial hardship due to Covid-19. If you are struggling to pay your premium or require advice on any veterinary- related matter, please contact us without delay on +44 (0) 1565 652737, email us, or visit our website.

Finally, the social distancing advice has put a stop to all our face-to-face veterinary CPD courses, but VDS Training continue to support vets, nurses, practice managers and the wider practice team via virtual online learning programmes. These interventions are proving even more valuable to some at a time when the health and wellbeing of teams is under increased pressure. For further details of what we are providing, please see the VDS Training website or call +44 (0)1565 743862.

These remain extremely challenging times, but the VDS team are committed to continue to support and protect you, your teams and your businesses so you can focus on your vital work of improving animal health and welfare and maintaining the food chain.
